Read Across Iowa is an initiative that started earlier this month and the Guthrie County Extension and Outreach has been an active participant.
The initiative is a month-long celebration that tries to bring the joy of reading to everyone, no matter their age, and make them feel valued and welcomed.
Guthrie County Extension Youth Coordinator Mollie Clark says they will deliver learning kits to every classroom in the county.
“We gave all the teachers a book to read in the classroom, and each kid will get a kit to take home, and/or they can do it there in the classroom. So we just finished packaging 1,685 kits.”
The kits include books, links to activities, bookmarks and much more. The Read Across Iowa event ends March 31st.
