The high school golf season is scheduled to open next Monday for the Greene County girls and boys, weather permitting. We hear from Josh Carlson, the coach of the girls, who have struggled with numbers in recent seasons. The coach said of the eight out, only three are returning letter winners. Golf can be expensive to play, but the coach says the three courses in the county help to make it affordable for youngsters to play the game. “With the a lot of the Junior programs, if you’re involved in one of those, or if you golf for either school team, the boys or the girls, you are welcome to go practice anywhere in the county at one of our three courses, so that’s a really generous offer from our course managers.”

The Hill just west of Grand Junction, Lakeside Golf Course northwest of Grand Junction, and Jefferson Community Golf Course on the south edge of town, are the three golf courses in the county.
