Landus Corp. Winner of 2022 Grocery Cart Race
There was a competitive fundraising event in Guthrie County and area food pantries won the overall prize.
The Guthrie County Farm Bureau held its annual “Grocery Cart Races,” to help fight hunger within the county at Hometown Foods in Panora Friday morning and the winner of the race was Landus Cooperative. The objective of the game was to gather a limit of $50 of groceries, within a time limit and get trivia questions right. Guthrie County Farm Bureau Vice President Heath Bloomquist said they had seven teams compete with an additional four from other businesses that provided a donation.
“It’s just, it means it’s good community involvement. Everyone knows that it’s for a good cause and everyone recognizes and gets here and does the best they can. So everyone got food for the food pantries and we’re going to donate some money on top of that so they can get what they really need.”
The total amount of money in groceries the event raised was just a little over $350 which will be matched by the Guthrie County Farm Bureau. Landus received a certificate for claiming the top prize.
