The search to find a new Greene County School District Superintendent is down to two finalists.
The School Board narrowed the field at a special meeting Wednesday night. With the guidance of consulting firm McPhearson and Jacobson, one of the finalists is Brett Abbotts. He is currently the Roosevelt Elementary School Principal with the Council Bluffs School District. He was previously the assistant principal and activities director at AHSTW and was a teacher with the Southeast Polk School District.
The other finalist is Mike Van Sickle. He is the current superintendent at Louisa-Muscatine School District. He previously was a principal in the Ogden School District, and the Perry-Lecompton School District in Perry and Hutchison, Kansas. He also taught in Pinckey, Kansas.
The finalists will be interviewed on March 29th and 30th, with various stakeholders who were at the initial public input meeting to meet with the candidates and provide feedback to the School Board, who is anticipated to make its decision on April 1st.
Current Greene County Schools Superintendent Tim Christensen submitted his resignation effective at the end of the school year.
