Multiple schools throughout the Raccoon Valley Radio-listening area were recent recipients of Iowa Department of Education funding.
It was recently announced that $506,084 in annual awards were given to 136 school districts and nonpublic schools that will prepare K-12 teachers to teach computer science. An award in the amount of $69,000 is headed to the Heartland Area Education Agency Collaborative which includes listening area schools in Dallas and Guthrie counties. Those local schools include the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn, Dallas Center-Grimes, Adair-Casey, Guthrie Center, West Central Valley, Panorama, and Perry Community School Districts.
Also, the Prairie Lakes Area Education Agency received $69,800 which includes the Paton-Churdan and Greene County Community School Districts.
The Computer Science Professional Development Incentive Fund awards are a part of broader commitment to expand computer science instruction.
