The Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department is inviting the general public to provide feedback about a possible future project.

JPRD Director Denny Hammen says they hired OPN Architects to gauge the community interest to build an indoor pool that would be connected to the Greene County Community Center. The idea came from a $845,000 gift from the Rory Autenreith Trust for improvements to the rec center.

“Obviously that’s not going to buy an indoor pool and this is why we need to do a feasibility study to see if there’s interest to move forward with this, or look at another use for the money down the road. The most important thing that I want people to understand is this has not been decided one way or the other. This is an exploratory meeting to find out where the feelings are from the community.”

A public input meeting will be held Wednesday, March 30th at 7pm at the community center social room. Hammen adds, from this meeting a survey will be developed to capture more community feedback. He encourages everyone to share their opinions and learn a little bit more about the possible project at that meeting.
