As Severe Weather Awareness Week continues, there will be a statewide tornado drill tomorrow.

The drill serves as a test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS), as well as allowing media outlets such as Raccoon Valley Radio to get back into the swing of severe weather season. The drill will begin at 10am, when the National Weather Service will issue a test tornado watch through the EAS. Then at about 10:15am, a test tornado warning will be issued. During that time, cities will be testing their emergency sirens, and everyone is encouraged to practice their safety measures for a tornado.

Additionally, during the drill, Raccoon Valley Radio will conduct mock Severe Weather Action Team coverage. The Raccoon Valley Radio staff will provide “live,” simulated cover and provide information about tornadoes and what to do in the event of an actual tornado with county emergency management coordinators and law enforcement. The drill is scheduled to end at 10:30am.

If there is an actual severe weather emergency on Wednesday, the drill will be rescheduled to Thursday at the same time.
