The Perry City Council approved the adoption of the fiscal year 2023 budget ending June 30th, 2023 at their regular meeting Monday.

The fiscal year 2023 budget was approved and will be filed with Dallas County and State of Iowa officials. Also, the Council approved the updated community development and housing needs assessment which is a part of the application process for the submission of a community development block grant.

The Council then approved the submittal of a community development block grant to the Iowa Economic Development Authority for the downtown reconstruction phase one project that includes roadway reconstruction, improvements to downtown parking areas and alleys, water quality improvement features, traffic signage, pedestrian sidewalks and beautification efforts.

Then the Council approved a public hearing date of April 18th at 6 p.m. for a voluntary annexation, making the streatery/parklets program permanent and the creation of a downtown Perry upper story housing pilot program that can assist with major rehabilitations, renovations and reconstructions of downtown upper story dwelling units that would reimburse eligible projects up to $10,000 per unit.

Finally, the Council approved the acceptance of a cost-sharing grant from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship for cost-sharing costs of $250,000.
