Greene County goes to Storm Lake today for its third and final indoor track meet at the Buena Vista University indoor facility. It’s a Coed meet starting at 9 a.m. with no team score. After today, the Rams will prepare for the outdoor season, which is scheduled to begin at Linduska Field in Jefferson on Monday, March 28 for Greene County’s Coed Early Bird Meet.
Chad Morton is the boys’ head coach and he has quite a bit of State Meet experience returning, but the coach told Raccoon Valley Radio he believes others that aren’t quite as well known will make their mark this Spring. An “unsung hero” from last season was 2021 senior Josh Ewalt, a distance runner by trade who took up the discus throw for the first time as a senior, and he qualified for State. Coach Morton talked about it. “I could talk about Josh Ewalt for a long time. He asked if he could try shot or disc, which I said he could because I want the kids to be in events they want to be in. He ends up going to State, which was a huge surprise, and now he’s throwing at Iowa Central (Community College).”
Who will the Josh Ewalt of 2022 for Ram track & field be? Stay tuned.
