The 50th Iowa Shrine Football All-Star Game is a long way off- Saturday, July 23 inside the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls to be exact. When the teams gather to prepare for the game, Greene County will be well represented. Ram head coach Caden Duncan is serving as the Offensive Coordinator for the South squad and Paton-Churdan senior Bradyn Smith will represent the Greene County Rams as a South linebacker.
All proceeds from this game and the 49 before it go to Shriner’s Children’s Hospitals and Coach Duncan comments about families of those patients don’t pay for the care. Events like the Iowa Shrine Bowl help make that possible. “They get a ton of donations. Each player is expected to raise $1,000 of donations through advertising in the game program and other methods. All that money goes directly to the hospitals so they can care for the kids and it’s such a cool thing to have in Iowa and it’s an honor to be a part of it.”
