Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center High School won the state championship in cross country in 2021 and the coach for both cross country and track talks about the similarities.

AC/GC Cross Country and Track and Field Coach Colin Shawgo tells Raccoon Valley Radio that both sports compliment each other.

“So the cross-country season is primarily used to build endurance and to create that good, strong base. And then the track season is more about speedwork. And so you’re going to see a lot of speed start coming from these kids that they might not have had during the cross season.”

He says he has already seen the work paying off from the cross country season.
