Greene County is now under a burn ban.
Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio that Greene County is under a burn ban until further notice. This means there is to be no open burning of any kind throughout the county until the ban is lifted.
According to the National Weather Service, Wednesday’s windy conditions have made it an elevated fire danger, which means if burning was allowed the chances of it spreading quickly are more at risk with the high winds. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, all of Greene County is abnormally dry.
