The Perry High School (PHS) Mock Trial team recently competed at a regional contest and came away with good results.

The PHS Mock Trial team competed in the Iowa State Bar Association Mock Trial Regional Contest in Ames on March 8th and came away with a sixth place finish in the team ratings and a fifth place finish in total team points.

Perry represented the defendant in competition with State Qualifier Carroll High School and the team represented the prosecution in the second round against Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School.

Each year schools are given a civil or criminal mock trial case. Mock trial competitions are judged by courtroom judges, attorneys and other legal professionals. Teams are awarded points based on how they portray the roles of attorneys and witnesses while engaging in the courtroom process and using critical thinking and presentation skills.
