Recently, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds signed a bill into law that dealt with transgender females playing female sports in Iowa.

The bill that was recently signed into law bans transgendered females from playing female sports in high school as well as the collegiate level. Iowa State Senator for District 10 Jake Chapman discusses his thoughts on the ban.

“Girls that are competing in sports should not have to compete against a biological male. This is about fairness and it’s about protecting women’s sports.”

Chapman tells Raccoon Valley Radio he feels it is common sense that girls should not have to compete against someone who is a biological male.

“There is other components to this as well, safety there is obviously safety concerns in different types of sports. How that could be harmful physically to someone that is in an aggressive sport but it really comes down to common sense and fairness and there is a reason we have do boys sports and we have girls sports.”

Chapman says he was supportive of the bill being signed into law that does not allow a transgendered female to play female sports.
