Dallas Center – Grimes boys basketball is playing the 3A state quarterfinals in this afternoon in Des Moines, as they will be taking on the Carroll Tigers in an intriguing matchup. The Mustangs are the top seed with a 19-5 record and Carroll jumps in with a 16-8 mark. Both teams are also coming in red hot, with DCG owning a 4 game winning streak and Carroll an 8 game winning streak.

Both of these teams faced off in January with DCG winning the game over Carroll in OT 53-50, and know that Carroll is a very dangerous eight seed that can’t be taken lightly. Carroll has very good guard play and also has the ability to rebound at an extremely high clip. Both teams are very efficient offensive teams, as they both average 62.6 points per game, but the defensive end is a little different, with DCG giving up 7 points less on average per game this year.

Coach Joel Rankin said that the key for a DCG victory will be taking care of the basketball, want to run at their pace, and control rebounds as well.

Tip time for this game will begin at approximately 2 pm. You can listen to the game on 943, 997, and AM 1310 KDLS, with pregame coverage to begin at approximately 1:45.
