Adair-Casey School Board and Guthrie Center School Board met for a joint session in February and discussed Sunday practices for all school-related sports. 

AC/GC Superintendent Dennis McClain says after a discussion with both boards the decision was to require Sunday practices for sports to be voluntary only. 

“Making sure that students have an opportunity for breaks and you know that they’re not just going 24-7.”

McClain describes how they will handle these situations if they occur. 

“If a student doesn’t make a voluntary workout or whatever, then you know,  if that student, then all of a sudden (is) not playing the next day, well, then we’re not practicing what we’re supposed to. So it’s just a matter of being intentional and doing it the right way.”

McClain says making sure that coaches understand this policy is the main objective.
