The Panorama School District is considering paying teachers extra as part of a retention stipend.

Superintendent Shawn Holloway says he proposed at the last school board meeting to pay every school employee $1,400. Holloway explains where he got that number.

“Where we were at with our COVID relief, federal funds, those are ESSER funds and  the amount of money we had there and the amount of money that we had already earmarked for future projects and what we had already spent. So just working with our school business official, Symantha Crawford and I came up with a dollar amount that we felt was, you know, fair to the district in terms of the funds that we would  need on the backside of the retention stipend.”

Holloway expects the retention stipend to be an action item at the next Board meeting with more details to be available.
