Severe storms made their way through the Raccoon Valley Radio-listening area Saturday which included a severe thunderstorm and tornado warning in Dallas County.
A tornado warning was issued for southeastern Dallas County at 4:51 p.m. for a damaging tornado that was spotted near Winterset with reports of damage near Winterset. The tornado warning was allowed to expire at 5:15 p.m.
A severe thunderstorm warning was then issued in Dallas County at approximately 4:53 p.m. Saturday which was for portions of Dallas County including Van Meter, DeSoto, Adel and Dallas Center. The primary threats of the storm were 60 mile per hour wind gusts and quarter size hail. During the storm there were law enforcement reports of nickel-sized hail in Waukee and there was approximately pea-sized hail reported at the Raccoon Valley Radio Station in Perry. The severe thunderstorm warning was allowed to expire at 5:30 p.m.
The Raccoon Valley Radio-listening area counties of Dallas, Greene and Guthrie will remain under a tornado watch until 8 p.m. tonight.
