The Panorama Panthers girls basketball team took on the Dike-New Hartford Wolverines in the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union Class 2a State Semifinal round Friday morning at Wells Fargo in Des Moines and fell short of the state championship game.

The fourth seeded Panthers girls took on the first seeded and defending Class 2A State Champion Dike-New Hartford Wolverines Friday morning in Wells Fargo arena in Des Moines and fell by a score of 67-23 in the semifinal round ending their season.

The Panthers girls team played in their fourth regional championship game in the last four years and made it over the hump defeating the Nodaway Valley Wolverines by a score of 58-41 to advance on to the state tournament this year.

The Panthers girls then took on the Iowa City Regina Regals in the quarterfinal round of the state tournament on Tuesday where they came away with a 46-38 victory advancing them to the semifinal round where they fell to the Dike-New Hartford Wolverines.

In a season that didn’t end the way they had hoped the Panthers girls continued their storied success as they finished the season winning the West Central Activities Conference as well as being regional champions. The Panthers only lost two games all season to the Nodaway Valley Wolverines in the regular season and the Dike-New Hartford Wolverines in the postseason.

The Panorama Panthers will say goodbye to their seniors in Payton Beckman, Laci Rishel, Angel Poldberg and Gabby Welberg.
