The Guthrie Center City Council approved to change their COVID-19 leave policy.

Mayor Mike Herbert says the Board moved forward with the guidance from the Center For Disease Control and Prevention giving employees that contract COVID-19 five days to recover without symptoms and the employees will not have to use sick leave time. Herbert says every employee has taken the necessary steps to stay healthy during the pandemic.

“ We have been lucky enough to have all of our employees. They have been vaccinated, so each individual has made a positive step  to help out the cause. And I think by us adjusting the policy for the leave is, you know, a good thing for us.”

Herbert adds that if an employee has been in contact with an infected person that employee must take sick leave or wear a mask around the building.
