During a stop in Guthrie Center on Wednesday, U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley elaborated his thoughts on a new US Supreme Court Justice.
Grassley says with the departure of Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer , he says what qualities he looks for in a new judge that includes their education, opinions and interpretation of the law according to the intent of congress. Grassley explains further on what he wants to see from a new justice on the highest court.
“And not try to fill in some details that maybe Congress left out. That’s our responsibility as a congressional branch of government, not the courts should not be a super legislature.”
Grassley says most importantly he wants the new justice to interpret the constitution for its original intent. President Joe Biden recently appointed Ketanji Brown Jackson.
