Panorama girls basketball defeated Nodaway Valley 58-41 in the district championship game Wednesday night and now will play on basketball’s biggest stage, the Iowa High School Girls State Basketball Tournament.

Head Coach Klyee Boettcher says they have lost in the district championship game the last three years so for them to finally get over the hump was a testament to her team.

And this is their fourth regional final. It’s the first victory to go to state, and I couldn’t be more excited for them to get this opportunity. And I mean, just look around the smiles, the support, it’s absolutely amazing.”

Senior Guard Payton Beckman scored 13 points along with eight steals in the victory. Beckman describes what it means to beat Nodaway Valley after losing to them earlier in the season.

“Knowing that we lost (to) them the first time, we wanted to play even harder and not give them a chance to even come close to us this time.”

Panorama will face off with Iowa City Regina in the Class 2A State Tournament beginning at 8:30 p.m. March 1st at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
