The Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center FFA Chapter has six students that will receive the prestigious Iowa Degree Award.
FFA Advisor Jim Calvert says Jacob Thomas, Sophie Dorsey, Jalen Michaelson, Cara Caltrider, Tyconder Ellis and Bryce Rochholtz have qualified for the Iowa Degree. He explains the process of getting this award.
“You have to earn and invest $1,500 in their project or their job, and then they have another one (and they)have (to) be involved in five contests above chapter level and in community service is 25 hours. So sometimes that’s the hard part.”
He says students that earn the Iowa Degree have their names displayed on the school’s FFA wall. Calvert notes the students will receive their Iowa Degree at the Iowa State Convention in Ames in early April.
