The season didn’t end the way they hoped for the Panorama Panthers boys basketball team after being eliminated in the postseason, but there were still positives to take away from the season.

The Panthers boys finished their season with an overall record 15-9 on the season and fell short in the Class 2A District 15 Championship game to the Van Meter Bulldogs by a final score of 84-52. Head Coach Nick Peasley says there was growth throughout the program in a season that saw more players on the court who started the season with less experience.

“We saw significant growth across the program, that’s just hats off to our players and what they chose to do and what they chose to be dedicated to. We can’t appreciate them enough and it was great to see them grow as a group and individually as well so there was definitely a lot of growth there.”

Peasley tells Raccoon Valley Radio he is thankful for the seniors on the team which consists of Jared Wasson, Brice Taylor, Jackson Peasley, Avery Norman, Skyler Poldberg, Josh VanWinkle and Austin Block.

“Just a big thank you. It’s just been great to have most of them for all four years of high school and then prior to that as well. Just a big thank you to them, hats off to them. Their leadership this year was tremendous and stepping up the way they needed to because we had a very young team varsity wise and nobody expected us to do what we did do this year and I couldn’t have been more blessed with a better group of seniors that we had this year. So, a big thank you to them.”

Peasley says in terms of the next season the young players who will step in for the exiting seniors were coachable and showed growth throughout this season as well.
