Since the world first found out about COVID-19, the pandemic has reached its second year.
Greene County Public Health Director Becky Wolf says experts don’t believe the COVID-19 virus will entirely go away, but that it is becoming more of an endemic than a pandemic.
“Endemic means that there’s a constant presence of the virus and it regularly shows up. So the best example of that it would be like comparing it to our seasonal influenza. Experts are talking like that’s really probably what we’re starting to see.”
Wolf adds that there’s been at least two generations that have never lived through a pandemic and typically a pandemic lasts 2-3 years for it to run its course across the globe.
