Monday was the first official date high schools in Iowa could begin track & field practice. Greene County Activities Director Todd Gordon told Raccoon Valley Radio that more than 40 girls and over 40 boys had signed up to go out for the sport. Derek Merk is the girls’ coach and Chad Morton coaches the boys.

Greene County returns experience on both teams, but the boys team, led by seniors Jackson Morton and Bryce Stalder appear to have a higher ceiling, especially in certain events.

The Rams open the indoor season at the A.D. Dickinson Relays on March 7 for girls and March 8 for boys. Both are hosted by the U. of Northern Iowa inside the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls.
