Three Panorama Panthers wrestlers recently headed to Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines to take part in the Class 1A State Tournament.
Three Panorama wrestlers recently made their first appearances at the state tournament in sophomore Tage Monahan at 113 pounds, senior James Hein at 195 pounds and senior Cooper Andersen in the 220 pound class for Class 1A wrestling.
Monahan’s first appearance in the state tournament began with his first match against Eli Becerra which Monahan lost via fall and then for his consolation match Monahan took on Landon Price where Monahan lost via fall which ended his time in the state tournament.
For Hein his first match was against Carter Davis where Hein lost via fall and then in his first consolation match Hein took on Nate Jorgensen where Hein came away with a 8-1 decision victory. In his next consolation match Hein took on Matthew Wirtz where Hein lost via fall which knocked him out of the state tournament.
Andersen had his first match against Conner Reed and Andersen won that match via fall. In his next match Andersen took on Jared Thiry where he lost via fall. Andersen would go on a run in the consolation bracket and eventually took on Logan Wright in the seventh place match and Andersen won that match via an 8-1 decision which netted Andersen a seventh place finish in the Class 1A 220 pound class.
