A Stuart man was arrested for allegedly holding a child at knifepoint Monday evening.
According to the Stuart Police Department, Hunter Davis Vanwyk was arrested by Adair County Sheriff’s Office at about 3:27 p.m. after threatening multiple victims and slashing tires with a knife while holding a one year old child hostage in the 600 block of Southwest 7th Street. Authorities secured the area around Vanwyk’s residence.
A Stuart Police Officer and an Adair County Deputy were able to enter the residence and found Vanwyk on a couch with the infant. The officer was able to safely remove the child from Vanwyk as he was apprehended. Vanwyk was arrested and charged with two counts of first degree harassment, two counts of domestic abuse, child endangerment and armed with intent.
