The most recent Perry City Council meeting had the approval of an award of funding for an ongoing project.

The Council approved the acceptance of $500,000 from the Iowa Finance Authority to go toward the cost of the wastewater treatment facility improvements. City Administrator Sven Peterson explains the funding.

“This money is for our wastewater treatment plant project. Our project is approximately $28 million at the wastewater treatment plant to totally rebuild and bring that facility up to current standards so this is a little bit of financial help from the Iowa Finance Authority towards that project.”

Peterson tells Raccoon Valley Radio the grant funding is to support the project as it came in over what the initial cost estimate was.

“The project came in over what the estimate was with all of the construction prices going up and inflation going up so this is a nice little bit of help from the state.”

The Council approved the acceptance of the grant at their February 7th meeting.
