February is American Heart Month and Greene County Medical Center reminds the public about services that can help individuals keep their hearts healthy.

According to the medical center, heart disease kills one in every four Americans, which is more deaths than all forms of cancer combined. Additionally, risk factors for heart disease include high blood pressure and high cholesterol, and smoking, along with other medical conditions such as diabetes, overweight and obesity, unhealthy diets, excessive alcohol use and physical inactivity. About 90-percent of women have at least one risk factor for developing heart disease.

The medical center offers services to help prevent, diagnose and treat heart disease. Care Management Cardiac including cardiac testing and cardiac rehab is for those who recently experienced a heart attack or other cardiac diseases. Other services are cardiology, family medicine clinic and laboratory.
