The Perry girls picked up a first round 4A Regional win Wednesday night defeating Des Moines Hoover 74-58. The Jayettes will now travel to Adel Saturday night for a Regional semifinal against the Tigers. Junior Lydia Olejniczak had a night to remember. The forward scored a school record 48 points while grabbing 20 rebounds to propel Perry to their first post season win in more than four years. The Huskies had no answer for Olejniczak who used a variety of ways to hit the impressive mark. She connected on 14-23 free throws while scoring on a number of transition layups. She unofficially had 9 steals as well. The 48 points is a Perry school record breaking the old mark of 44. Sophomore Callie Steva enjoyed a double double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Hoover closes out the season with a mark of 1-21. Perry picks up their 9th win of the season and will now prepare for ADM Saturday night.
