When the Iowa High School State Wrestling Tournament begins on Thursday morning at 9 a.m. with Class 2A first round matches followed by consolation rounds, three Greene County Rams will take to the mats.

Leading off at 120 lbs. will be junior Kale Petersen, a Class 1A State Champion at 106 lbs. in 2021 for West Fork (Sheffield). He is the number two seed this time around. Next up at 132 lbs. will be junior McKinley Robbins, also a 2021 State Champ. He’s the top seed in that weight class, and 152 lbs. sophomore Gavin Scheuermann is the eighth seed and will be the final of the three to step on the mat.

First round winners advance to the Friday morning quarterfinals while those that lose in the opening round will have a first round consolation match yet Thursday morning. Two losses tomorrow means the end of the tournament for those going 0-2.

Complete play-by-play of the Rams and 13 other area schools’ qualifiers can be heard Thursday, Friday, and Saturday on all three Raccoon Valley Radio stations, plus streaming on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
