One local FFA chapter in Guthrie County has a couple of students on track to receive a prestigious award.
Panorama Schools FFA Advisor Steven Hameister says that two of his students, Dylan Ford and Sarah Kastner, have qualified for the Iowa Degree award. He says that both students have had their applications approved at the district level and now it’s up to the state committee to accept their paperwork.
“But it’s a pretty neat deal. Very, very small percentage of FFA members get it, and (Iowa Degree) is the highest degree that they can earn here in the state. So it’s kind of neat to see them to get that.”
Hameister anticipates getting the state’s approval and that both students will receive their Iowa Degree at the Iowa State Convention in Ames in early April.
