Greene County qualified three wrestlers for the Feb. 17-18-19 Iowa High School State Wrestling Tournament at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. Coach Zach Beekman’s Rams had six district qualifiers wrestle Saturday in Glenwood at the Class 2A District 2 tournament and Kael Petersen (120 lbs.), McKinley Robbins (132) and Gavin Scheuermann (152) all will be going to State as District Champions. Petersen went 2-0 Saturday with a fall and technical fall. Robbins was 2-0 with a fall and a 12-4 major decision, and Scheuermann won 9-2 and 6-1. The top two in each of the 14 weight classes move on. Petersen is 11-0 with Robbins at 42-3 and Scheuermann 40-6.

Nate Black was third at 160 lbs. with Brenner Gallagher (138) and Noble Hoyt (182) both finishing in fourth place.

The team title went to Atlantic with Greene County finishing in fifth place.

All three Raccoon Valley Radio stations will have complete play-by-play coverage of area wrestlers in all three classes Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Class 2A starts it off at 9 a.m. Feb. 17, followed by 3A in the afternoon and 1A Thursday night.
