A reminder that today is the final day for the State Elks Hoop Shoot Contest.

Several kids from 8-13 years old are competing from across Iowa, including some from the Raccoon Valley Radio-listening area. Paton-Churdan’s Kenna Minnihan is competing in the 8-9 year old girls division and Alyvia Smith for the 12-13 year old girls division. Smith is a two time state qualifier for the Elks Hoop Shoot Contest. Perry has two competitors with Reed Wuebker in the 10-11 year old boys division, as well as Ty Miller for the 12-13 year old boys division.

Only the winners of each age and gender division will advance to the regional contest. The winners are determined by how many free throws are made out of 25. The state contest is held in Grinnell.
