Nevada defeated Perry 51-36 in Heart of Iowa girls basketball action Tuesday night inside the Sports Pavilion.  The turning point of the game unfortunately took place in the 2nd quarter when Perry lost their lone senior Jayna Kenney to a knee injury.  The senior point guard was enjoying a solid night, leading the way with 9 points through a quarter and a half.  Perry was trailing 21-19 and had the momentum when she went down with the injury.  Nevada took advantage and opened up a double digit cushion in the second half in her absence.  Lydia Olejniczak carried the offensive load scoring a game high 19 points including 12 in the second half despite a Nevada defense that keyed in on her in the second half.  Katherine West grabbed six rebounds while Callie Steva snared 5 boards.  Maci Tunick connected for a three pointer.  Nevada finishes Heart of Iowa action with a 10-4 mark.

Perry’s closes out their first Heart of Iowa season 5-9 and will wrap up the regular season Friday night at Webster City.  Kenney’s status for Friday and the post season opener next Wednesday is unknown.

Perry High School recognized all of the senior participants in basketball, pep band, cheer squad and dancing.  Kenney was the only senior who went out for basketball.
