The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Monday in regular session.
During open forum, County Attorney Thomas Laehn said there were 15 search warrants that were executed last week between the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, Jefferson Police Department and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, which have so far resulted in two indictments.
Then, Central Iowa Community Services (CICS) mental health region CFO Patti Treibel-Leeds introduced Justice Involvement Services Coordinator Brittany Baker. She will be working with individuals in the Greene County Jail primarily on Mondays.
The Board then held a public hearing for an amendment to the current fiscal year budget, with increased revenues of $660,000 and $501,000 of increased expenses. The Board approved the resolution following the hearing, where no public comments were made.
During the budget workshop for the 2023 fiscal year, the Board held another lengthy discussion about the Greene County Libraries Association funding request. The Board discussed its counter proposal of increasing the base to $4,000 for each library, along with an additional $1,000 and up to $10,000 for the joint funds of the county libraries. The Board also discussed looking at funding the libraries in a different manner, with the possibility of per capita of each community, along with the rural portions of the county.
Finally, the Board agreed that their salary increase should not be higher than the other county employees, with the exception of elected officials and their deputies, which is seven-percent. The County Compensation Board proposed an eight-percent increase for supervisors. They will act on the full proposal from the Compensation Board at their Thursday meeting this week.
