There’s  not much left of the high school basketball regular season for the Greene County and Paton-Churdan basketball teams. The Rams face Southeast Valley in Gowrie tonight on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com, while the Rockets are home in Churdan with Exira/Elk Horn-Kimballton.

The Rams and Jaguars have similar records heading into their doubleheader tonight. Greene County is 2-17 on the girls side and 9-9 in boys’ action. SEV is 3-17 in girls’ basketball and the boys are 9-10. Coverage from Gowrie starts at 5:45 p.m. with the girls playing at 6 o’clock and the boys to follow. Greene County lost both ends of a twin bill in Nevada last Friday to the Cubs, 48-10 in the girls’ game and 71-61 in the boys’ contest. The Jaguars lost the girls game vs. East Sac County 61-58, but won the boys’ game 59-55. SEV boys are led by guard Kolson Kruse, son of P-C teacher/coach Pat Kruse, and 6′ 5″ post Aaron Graves, who is a U. of Iowa football recruit. Not only does Graves average 20 points per game in basketball, he’s the number 3 ranked heavyweight wrestler in Class 2A.
