Author Gary Porter & co-author Griff (dog)

A Greenfield native author is excited to come back and share his published works.

Gary Porter is the author of the books “Griff My Life as Drake’s Top Dog: The Tale of a Terrier” and “Town Kid: Reflections of a Midwestern Boyhood.” Porter grew up in the 1950s and 60s in Greenfield but then moved to Des Moines to become a professor and has great memories of the Warren Cultural Center from his 50th high school reunion that was held there.

“To be able to come back on Sunday and share the the book with the folks downstairs from where we had our reunion in the ED And Eva’s shop with all those wonderful Iowa gifts that they have there, there’s a lot of fond memories I have of not just the Opera House, but of the whole town square in Greenfield.”

Porter says his books hit the target age of seven to 80 and are for dog and sports lovers. He will be reading and signing copies of his books at the Warren Cultural Culture on Sunday from noon until 3pm. Porter’s books will be available to purchase at the event. The Warren Cultural Center will ask participants to wear a mask.
