At the most recent Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School Board meeting the funding for at-risk prevention was approved.
The Board approved at their January 19th meeting a request to the School Budget Review Committee for Modified Supplemental Amount and Supplemental Aid for the dropout prevention program in the amount of $534,193 for next school year. Superintendent Greg Dufoe cites the program’s effectiveness.
“It’s an important program for us, it’s over $700,000 for us in dropout dollars, and it’s something we take very seriously.”
Dufoe tells Raccoon Valley Radio a lot of the dropout prevention in the District is centered around the guidance team which the funding goes to help in paying for the time of the guidance counselors for the students that are targeted to possibly drop out of school.
