A Jefferson man was recently sentenced for a January 2020 incident.

According to court documents, 55-year-old Robert Barnard pled guilty to a lesser charge of a simple misdemeanor for assault. He was sentenced to two days in the Greene County Jail with credit for time already served.

The charge stemmed from an incident on January 23, 2020. Court documents show that Barnard had an argument where Barnard threatened to cut the victim’s throat and the Jefferson Police Department was called to the same residence three times that day.

As per the plea agreement, the no contact order with the victim was removed.
