The West Central Valley School Board recently approved a partnership with Nodaway Valley for high school soccer.

Superintendent Rusty Shockley says the board debated sharing soccer programs with Nodaway Valley in fear that it might move the boys soccer team up a class. Shockley says when talking with the Nodaway’s administration the decision to keep sharing programs was an easy decision.

“It became pretty clear that if we did not share boys soccer with (Nodaway Valley) moving forward, they were not going to be willing to share girls soccer, so that would be detrimental to our girls soccer program. So I think that’s why I went back to the board, and I think that’s why the decision to share was made.”

Shockley adds that without sharing the girls soccer program with Nodaway Valley it would become hard to fill a soccer team.
