Greene County has one tournament this weekend down with one to go. Coach Zach Beekman’s Rams placed third among eight teams with two champions Friday night at the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference tournament in Nevada. They go to the very large and very prestigious Ed Winger Tournament in Urbandale today with wrestling starting at 9 a.m.

Junior McKinley Robbins went 2-0 on the night with two falls and he became one of the few Rams to get career win number 100 as a junior. Robbins captured his third HOAIC individual title and stood at 100-4 for his career. Sophomore Gavin Scheuermann won at 152 lbs. with a pair of falls, both in 1:12, and a 14-3 title match major decision for his first HOIAC title.  Junior Dakota Mobley at 126 lbs., senior Nate Black at 160 lbs. and Noble Hoyt and 182 lbs. each finished in second place. Freshmen Gavyn Winters (106) and Jacob Harmeyer (113) both placed third, with freshman Crew Conner (120), and senior Brenner Gallagher (138) each were fourth. Freshman Marcus Ball (220) was fifth, as was sophomore Jackson Turner (145). The Rams were open 170 lbs., 195,, and 285.

Roland-Story (Story City) won the HOIAC team title with 210 points, followed by West Marshall (State Center) at 197. The Rams scored 168, followed by Perry 127.5, South Hamilton (Jewell) 109.5, PCM (Monroe) 87, Nevada 83, and 76 for Saydel (Des Mones).
