Greene County and the seven other Heart of Iowa Activities wrestling programs gather at Nevada high school today for the 2022 conference tournament. Roland-Story (Story City) edged out West Marshall (State Center) for the dual meet title with Greene County third. WM won the HOIAC tournament in 2021 with Greene County finishing second.
The Rams are expected to be shorthanded tonight after forfeiting three weight classes in dual meets earlier this week, plus 2021 Class 1A 106 lbs. State Champion Kale Petersen won’t be eligible until next week due to transfer rules, which doesn’t help the Greene County cause tonight. McKinley Robbins, the 2A State Champion for Greene County at 120 lbs. last season will be at 132 today. Nate Black (160 lbs.) and Robbins have the best records for the Rams as each have lost just twice this season. Black isn’t ranked in the top 12 by IAWrestle, but he has won his last 19 matches. Robbins is rated second and Gavin Scheuermann at 152 lbs. moved up to the number 10 spot by IAWrestle this week.
