Two local senior care facilities in Perry recently announced that they received high marks on some surveys.
Perry Lutheran Homes’ King’s Garden and Spring Valley Campuses earned a deficiency-free survey from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals.
On average only 10-percent of nursing facilities in the country and five-percent in Iowa are able to receive this designation. Both campuses underwent their annual survey toward the end of last year.
During the process state surveyors came to the facilities unannounced to conduct the survey and do interviews with staff, residents and their family members. They also observed care and procedures, and checked records to then create their determination on the survey results in areas including hygiene, cleanliness and quality of care among others.
