With an increase of positive COVID-19 cases in Greene County, the demand for testing may also go up.
Greene County Public Health Director Becky Wolf says in addition to getting a COVID-19 rapid test through a medical provider they also have take home tests through public health. She states the home kits are through the Test Iowa program and are the saliva tests that are submitted through the mail system to the State Hygienic Lab in Iowa City.
“All you have to do is call our number and just let us know how many kits you want, you can have more than one if you have other members in your family. And then we’ll just make arrangements to meet you out at the curb (by the public health office) to give you those kits.”
The kits are free and Wolf says depending when you mail the test sample, the results are typically posted on the Test Iowa website within 24-48 hours. You must have an account with Test Iowa in order to access the results. Call Greene County Public Health to arrange a pickup of the free test kits at 515-386-3228.
