A local senior living community is putting on a recurring program.
The Lakeside Village in Panora will host a program called “Lakeside Village Community Support Group,” which will be open to the public. The group will give the Lakeside Village staff a chance to teach those in need about the aging process and living with dementia or chronic diseases. Leader of the program and Healthcare Coordinator Kristine Marlow says this is a big need in Guthrie County.
“Oh, definitely. We are the only dementia specific care center in Guthrie County, and we have really seen it with our residents and our families. So it’s really a big need that they are really struggling with some of the changes that their families are going through. And so it’s just talking to them on an individual basis. I feel like if we can get them together in a group setting that they can help each other kind of go through some of these feelings and emotions together so that the feelings and emotions that they’re feeling are normal.”
This program will take place on the first floor of the theater room in Lakeside Village every third Tuesday of the month from 6:30-7:30pm.
