Guthrie County will receive an allocation of federal funds from the American Rescue Plan Act.
According to the Biden Administration, the funds will address turning the tide on the pandemic, economic fallout and lay a foundation for a strong recovery. Guthrie County Health Services Director Jotham Arbers says the county will receive just a little over 2.1 million dollars. Arber states they formed a committee to begin working on ideas for several projects.
“The health department is looking at a mobile clinic abilities through trailers where we’re able to come and do on site, whether it’s vaccinations or wellness screenings or whatnot, and then working with the EMA’s (Emergency Management Agencies) so that can be used as an incident command trailer.”
He explains this trailer could also be used to house people for a short time during disaster incidents. Arber also adds other projects they will use for these funds include new body and interview cameras for the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office, new bathhouses for state parks, a ventilation system for courthouse and more.
