Once Greene County wrestlers resume the 2022 portion of their season, they have 10 January competitions on the schedule in preparation of the postseason, which begins on Feb. 5 at a Class 2A Sectional Tournament in Harlan. Between last season and the current one, Coach Zach Beekaman’s Rams have seen an uptick in competition, especially in tournaments, which was done with having a tougher regular season to better prepare the team for the postseason.

Coach Beekman talked with Raccoon Valley Radio following the Dec. 18 Carroll Tiger Invitational, in which the Rams saw Carroll and Clarinda, two of the teams they’ll encounter in the postseason. “Those two teams are going to be tough and we know they have individual we’ll have to pair up against. We kind of know where we match up and we have to come ready to go and that’s what the second part of the season will get us ready for.” The coach added the Rams have a lot of work to do as far as technique goes and discipline in using technique.

The Rams open January on the 4th in Martensdale vs. Martensdale-St. Mary’s and Nodaway Valley (Greenfield).
