The year of 2021 was a lot of things for many people and for the City of Perry the year brought economic growth.
City Administrator Sven Peterson says on the housing front, there was a bit of a dip in development but it has started to rebound with places such as 28th Street with homes being put together.
“Really starting to see that housing restart from kind of that 2020 lull with those supply chain issues. I am hoping that coming into 2022 we expect more in that 28th Street, Magnolia Park area. We are also looking at that housing development that was approved just off of Warford (Street) by Frog Creek so an opportunity for a lot of housing coming into the next couple of years, very exciting.”
Peterson tells Raccoon Valley Radio there were other ways the City developed throughout 2021 including working on the solar project throughout Perry which will see 10 city facilities be 100-percent on solar energy.
“Huge boon for the City there. Obviously saving some money short-term but then long-term saving a lot of money and that’s really an exciting part of that project.”
Peterson says another project for the City includes the runway extension for the airport which could begin construction next year as well.
